ANKARA: A plane that was flying from Ankara to Tripoli, Syria, met with an accident and crashed, taking all the lives of the five crew members and passengers, among them General Mohamed Ali Al-Haddad, the Chief of the Libyan Army. Libya’s Prime Minister confirmed the tragic news.
As per the information, the flight departed Ankara’s Eskişehir Airport at 8:10 PM. Unfortunately, at 8:52 PM, air traffic control lost contact with the aircraft. The plane tried to make an emergency landing at Ankara but crashed near Himayna, before reaching the airport.
Turkish officials took immediate action by shutting down operations and flights at Eskişehir Airport and putting rescue and search teams on standby with top alert.
The place where the plane had been wrecked was located after the crash and it was a confirmation that all the passengers, including General Al-Haddad, had perished.
The Interior Minister of Turkey mentioned that there was no further communication with the airplane after the crash and an inquiry has been started concerning the accident.
