Law enforcement agencies have collected evidence of the suicide attack on Imambargah and Mosque Khadijatul Kubra in the Tarlai area of Rawalpindi yesterday. According to police sources, the National Forensic Agency (NFA) and NADRA were also sought in the investigation.
According to the police, the attacker also opened fire before the attack. After firing 2 bullets on the way, the attacker entered the hall of the mosque and fired 6 more bullets, the shells of which were recovered from the scene. After this, the attacker detonated the blast using a suicide vest. According to the initial report, about 4 kilograms of explosive material was used in the explosion, which had a high content of ball bearings, which increased the intensity of the explosion.
Police sources said that evidence has been collected from the scene after the explosion and a more detailed examination of the nature and quantity of explosives is underway. This step has been taken to ensure that the planners of the attack and possible other accomplices can be traced.It may be recalled that 32 people were killed and more than 150 were injured in the suicide blast.
The injured are being immediately shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment, and an emergency situation has been imposed in the hospitals.
