PESHAWAR: Pakistan will witness the supermoon of 2025 tonight, presenting an incredible astronomical event for observers.

Per the Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), a supermoon happens when the Moon is at its position to Earth in its oval-shaped orbit while fully lit. This closeness causes the Moon to look somewhat bigger and more luminous, than normal.

SUPARCO announced that the supermoon will appear on 4 December at 4:58 PM with 99.2% illumination attaining its brightness of 99.8% on the morning of 5 December at 4:15 AM. At this moment the Moon will be 357,218 kilometers from Earth causing it to look 7.9% bigger and 15% more luminous, than a typical full moon.

Astronomy enthusiasts across Pakistan are encouraged to observe this magnificent spectacle on the nights of 4 and 5 December, as it will be clearly visible throughout the country.

Could life exist on Enceladus? Scientists find vital ingredients

Research shows that Saturn’s moon Enceladus has all the vital components that researchers think are key to life to arise.

Researchers reanalyzed data NASA’s Cassini spacecraft collected during its mission in August 2008 that looks at ice plumes that were made of water and rock grains from the moon’s south pole.

The new information shows that besides organic molecules that were discussed previously, this also contains more advanced carbon-based molecules that could be precursors to such building blocks as amino acids.

Enceladus, researchers say, has three main components, including liquid water, a source of energy like hydrothermal activity, and organic material. Together these suggest that the moon has a habitable environment.

They have not yet discovered any evidence for life, and conclusion puts Enceladus in the forefront of searching for life in our solar system
