LAHORE: The Punjab government has officially launched the Chief Minister Laptop Scheme 2026, which provides free laptops to students who meet eligibility requirements at public and private universities.
The scheme will accept applications until February 15 2026 which allows students to complete their online application process.
The scheme has been established by government officials to support digital education development, research growth and research development, while students in higher education get access to contemporary educational resources.
Eligibility Criteria:
Students must be registered at HEC-approved public or private universities and maintain a minimum 65% academic performance standard or equivalent CGPA to obtain program benefits.
Students should check their eligibility status with their respective schools before they proceed to apply for the program.
How to Apply:
Students can submit their applications through the official website at http://cmlaptophed.punjab.gov.pk
Applicants must present their National ID card or B-form number along with their complete academic information required for the application process. The system will reject any applications that contain either incomplete information or inaccurate information.
The Punjab government considers this program to be an important advancement because it provides young people with digital skills that will help them meet the requirements of contemporary educational systems.
Amir Muqam distributes laptops in Shangla University under PM laptop scheme
Earlier, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan, and SAFRON Engineer Amir Muqam, distributed laptops among 45 students under the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme and inaugurated a modern Digital Smart Classroom at Shangla University.
Engineer Amir Muqam addressed the ceremony on behalf of the Prime Minister, emphasizing the government’s strong commitment to equipping youth with modern education and technology. He expressed his appreciation for the efforts of Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, the Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, in promoting youth welfare. He highlighted the government’s initiatives to empower young people through practical measures.
Muqam stated that the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme has significantly contributed to providing better educational, skill development, and employment opportunities for the youth. He underscored that youth are the most valuable asset of any country, and guiding them effectively ensures national development.
The Federal Minister assured that the issues faced by Shangla University would be addressed as a priority, and emphasized the plan to develop the institution into a model university. He praised the Prime Minister’s vision for development and educational reforms, citing the Laptop Scheme as a tangible example of youth empowerment.
Highlighting the Prime Minister’s economic policies, Engineer Amir Muqam noted that the government is implementing effective measures aimed at economic recovery, reducing inflation, and creating employment opportunities, with positive results already becoming apparent.
He paid tribute to the sacrifices made by the Pakistan Army and security forces, acknowledging the enduring contributions of martyrs in establishing peace in the country. He praised the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and recognized his services.
Criticizing the provincial government, the Federal Minister pointed out that serious governance issues exist in the province that require urgent attention.
While inaugurating the Digital Smart Classroom, Engineer Amir Muqam stated that providing digital facilities in educational institutions according to modern requirements is crucial. He added that the government is taking comprehensive steps to promote higher education and enhance educational facilities.
