CHELAS: The Karakoram Highway is completely blocked due to heavy landsliding near Gohar Abad, Shang Nala Gunar Farm area, disrupting the flow of traffic and tourist entry to the area.

Acting upon the directives of Deputy Commissioner Diamir, the Magistrate visited the affected area and directed the concerned authorities to quickly remove the debris and restore the road for passengers.

According to the page of the district administration of Diamir, the National Highway Authority (NHA) officials are also currently present in the affected area and are working on different aspects to restore traffic flow urgently.

Locals and tourists are facing severe difficulties due to the closure of this important passage of the Karakoram Highway due to landslides. Several vehicles and trucks are stranded on this route, and travelers are taking alternative routes to reach their destinations.

It is to mentioning here that the Karkoram High goes through the middle of mountainous terrain, which is frequently exposed to landslides due to its projected mountains over the main routes leading from Abbotabad to Gilgit.

The road is sliding, causing frequent incidents of traffic and wasting valuable time for passengers traveling over this road to the far-flung areas of Gilgit Baltistan and the Diamir areas.
