PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court on Saturday ruled that lack of transparent trials of shortcomings in the criminal justice system is affecting the constitutional and fundamental rights of the citizens of the province.
Peshawar High Court, hearing on petitions filed against shortcomings in the criminal justice system ordered the relevant authorities of investigation, prosecution, health and lab should present a comprehensive report on various points at the next hearing, decision.
Peshawar High Court ordered the formation of a five-member larger bench for a comprehensive hearing on the petitions. Chief Justice M. Atiq Shah, Justice Arshad Ali, Justice Sahibzada Asadullah, Justice Ijaz Khan and Justice Salahuddin will be part of the larger bench, decision
Copies of the court’s decision should be sent to all stakeholders of the criminal justice system to give their suggestions. All parties and stakeholders should submit their reports within 14 days, the court ordered.
According to the petitioners, there are many shortcomings in the criminal justice system, there are various problems in the police investigation, prosecution and medical, the criminal system has completely failed in terms of structure and procedure.
