KHYBER: Labour union from Landi Kotal staged a protest rally and demanded the opening Pak-Afghan border in Torkham.

In the peace rally in Landi Kotal Bazaar, the leaders of the labor union, Famid Shinwari and Zakir Umar Shinwari, addressed the participants in the rally and said that they want peace and do not want war.

The senior officials of Pakistan and Afghanistan should resolve the issues amicably through negotiations, and the Torkham border should be opened immediately for commercial activities and passenger traffic from both sides. The participants of the peace rally raised slogans of peace.

The participants made it clear that if the Torkham border was not opened, then the transporters, drivers, traders, labourers, customs clearing agents, and the public would organize a grand protest peace rally. Therefore, the senior officials of Pakistan and Afghanistan should immediately resolve the issues amicably.

It is to mentioning here that the Torkam gate has been closed for all kinds of trade activities for the last 16 days, which has badly affected the routine business of the locals at the international border. Thousands of families are attached to trade on the Torkham border, and its closure causes multiple issues for the labourers and trade unions.
