PESHAWAR: The bidders who offered millions of rupees for fancy vehicle number plates in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa failed to pay within the stipulated period, and as a result, the KP authorities have forfeited their security deposits.

The highest bid for which the bid was made is for the ‘Dawar-1’ vehicle number plate, which is for Rs175 million. The second highest bid for which the bid was made is for the ‘Waziristan-1’ vehicle number plate, which is for Rs40.6 million. Then comes ‘Bajaur-1,’ which is for Rs33.5 million, ‘Mehsud-1,’ which is for Rs22 million, and ‘Pakhtun-1,’ which is for Rs13.2 million.

But as the bidders failed to pay within the stipulated period, their security deposits have been confiscated.

The department has stated that this opportunity will be given to the second and third-highest bidders to obtain these vehicle number plates by paying the required amounts. If they too fail to pay, then this auction will be held again.

The department has stated that this action has been taken to ensure transparency and strict adherence to rules in the auctioning of vehicle number plates.
