PESHAWAR: The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has achieved yet another milestone in its journey towards international-standard tourism with the signing ceremony of the Letter of Conditional Award (LOCA) for the 400 Kanal Thandiani Tourism Resort Project, held yesterday at KP House, Islamabad.

The agreement was signed between Mr Shahrukh Ali Khan, Director General Galiyat Development Authority (GDA), and Tahir Builders Pvt. Ltd. in collaboration with Qubed Pvt. Ltd. Advertised globally under the KP Public Private Partnership Act, the project has been conditionally awarded to the highest bidder with an offer of PKR 2.29 billion for a 50-year concession period.

This landmark project is part of the International Tourism Zones (ITZs) being developed across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It reflects the dynamic tourism vision of Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, who is committed to transforming KP into a hub of world-class tourism, eco-friendly resorts, and sustainable economic growth.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Tourism Dr Abdul Samad stated that the Thandiani Tourism Resort will embody modern hospitality standards, environmental conservation, and facilities that will attract both domestic and international travellers. The project will generate new employment opportunities for local communities and set new benchmarks for tourism investment in Pakistan.

The signing of the LOCA marks an important step in the transparent procurement process. At the same time, the formal award will be granted after final approval from the KP Public-Private Partnership Committee.

Dr Samad further added that through such initiatives, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is not only advancing tourism but also shaping Pakistan’s international image as a premier and attractive global destination.
