PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly’s Special Security Committee on Monday stressed to adopt a consultative approach to tackle the security challenges being faced by the province’s masses.
The second consultative meeting on special security in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly was held at the Provincial Assembly Secretariat in Peshawar, chaired by Speaker Babar Saleem Swati. This meeting took place from 1 AM to 8 PM and involved a thorough review of the overall law and order situation in the province, as well as the coordination issues among relevant institutions.
Attendees included members of the provincial cabinet, assembly members, opposition leader Dr Ibad Khan, Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed, other senior police officials, and Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahab Ali Shah, along with the Additional Secretary of the Home Department and the Assembly Secretary.
During the meeting, the Home Department, Police Department, and Chief Secretary’s Office provided detailed briefings on the current security situation in the province.
The members of the Provincial Assembly expressed their commitment to supporting all law enforcement agencies in establishing peace and stability. They also offered suggestions for achieving lasting peace, safeguarding the lives and property of the people, and ensuring effective coordination among security agencies.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Speaker Babar Saleem Swati emphasised that the main goal of the Special Security Committee is to establish lasting peace in the province, protect the lives and property of its citizens, and address challenges through understanding and consultation. He noted that all political forces in the province are united on a platform for peace and stability, reflecting a positive mindset. The Speaker announced that the next meeting of the committee would be held in the coming days.
