PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have been struggling with a shortage of crime scene vehicles and forensic kits in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to sources, serious shortcomings have been identified in the investigation system of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, as several districts in the province lack essential resources, including crime scene vehicles and investigation kits.

According to a report obtained by Pakhtun Digital, 23 districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa currently do not have crime scene vehicles for investigations. This includes several districts that are critical and sensitive in terms of security.

The districts affected include Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Tank, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Upper Chitral, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, North Waziristan, and South Waziristan (both Upper and Lower), all of which are considered highly sensitive. Additionally, Haripur, Battagram, Upper Kohistan, Lower Kohistan, and Kolai Palas also lack police crime scene vehicles.

Only 12 districts in the province are equipped with crime scene vehicles, while crime scene kits are available in 28 districts. However, 7 districts—including Bajaur, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, and both Upper and Lower South Waziristan—do not have access to crime scene kits.
