PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police department underwent a strategic administrative reshuffle on Monday, with the provincial government appointing Taimur Khan as the new Additional Inspector General (AIG) Operations at the Central Police Office (CPO).

Mr Khan, a Grade-18 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) who previously served as District Police Officer (DPO) Lower Dir and SP Logistics Peshawar, takes charge of the key operational post following his recent promotion. The move is seen as part of a broader effort to strengthen the provincial command structure.

In a simultaneous development, the outgoing AIG Operations, PSP Abdullah, has been directed to report to the CPO for further proceedings. Official sources confirmed that Mr Abdullah is slated for an inter-provincial transfer, with his services being placed at the disposal of the Government of Sindh.

The transition comes at a time when the CPO is intensifying its oversight of regional security protocols. Mr Khan’s previous experience in the field is expected to play a vital role in his new capacity, where he will be responsible for coordinating provincial police operations and internal logistics.
