PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has forecasted rain and snowfall across the province in the next 24 hours, which will provide some relief to the drought-stricken population.
Intermittent rains are expected in various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from today until December 5, with snowfall likely in higher elevations.
The PDMA has issued a letter to all district administrations in the province, advising them to remain vigilant and prepare for the upcoming rain.
Intermittent rain with thunder and snowfall is anticipated in the following districts during December 4-5: Upper and Lower Dir, Upper and Lower Chitral, Swat, Upper and Lower Kohistan, Kolaipalas, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, and Mohmand.
Additionally, there is a strong possibility of rain in the districts of Kohat, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, North and South Waziristan, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan.
Due to the expected rain, there is a risk of slippery roads in Abbottabad, Battagram, Buner, Upper and Lower Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Khyber, Upper and Lower Kohistan, Kulgam, Kurram, Malakand, Mansehra, Mohmand, Orakzai, Shangla, Swat, Torghar, and the mountainous areas of North Waziristan.
There is also a potential for damage to weak houses, electricity poles, advertisement boards, and solar panels due to the rain.
All district administrations are directed to take necessary precautionary measures, clear drainage systems, and provide timely information to local residents, tourists, and travellers. Farmers and livestock keepers are advised to move crops and animals to safer locations.
Relevant institutions are urged to ensure the availability of emergency services, medical aid, food, and other essential items. The public is also advised to avoid unnecessary travel during inclement weather.
