PESHAWAR: Advisor to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on finance, Muzzammil Aslam, on Tuesday said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) receives only one per cent share of National Finance Commission (NFC) under the War on Terror, yet it faces a media trial, while no one questions the larger shares given to other provinces.
Reacting to the report on the 20 most underdeveloped districts, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Adviser Muzzammil Aslam said that the list may not be entirely accurate.
He stated that KP receives a one-per-cent share in the NFC Award under the War on Terror, granted since 2008 in recognition of continuous military operations and the resulting loss of lives and infrastructure.
Muzzammil Aslam added that Balochistan, on the other hand, receives an additional 2.4 per cent share due to reverse population density (large area with small population).
He noted that according to the report, 17 of the 20 most underdeveloped districts are in Balochistan and only one is in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Yet, KP’s one-per-cent NFC share is constantly subjected to media scrutiny, while no one questions the additional funds received by other provinces.
