PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Private Schools Regulatory Authority (KPPSRA) has implemented new regulations to safeguard teachers’ rights in all private schools throughout the province.
The private educational institutions received a notification that established a requirement to create a written contract before they could proceed with teacher hiring. The contract must provide details about the teacher’s salary structure and their required working hours and assigned duties.
The notification also stated that terms regarding leaves, duration of employment, and termination conditions must be included in writing. The teacher will receive one copy of the contract while the school will maintain another copy for its records.
The KPPSRA established a system that enables schools to report their operational violations while facing severe penalties according to the PSRA Act provisions.
The government established this policy to create transparent systems that defend teachers’ rights while maintaining proper employment regulations throughout private educational institutions in the province.
Unregistered private schools barred from board exams in KP
Earlier, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department has made registration with the Private Schools Regulatory Authority mandatory for all unregistered private schools in the province.
The official notification to educational board chairmen states that unregistered private schools must not register students for board examinations. The department stated that no private school will be permitted to operate without official registration.
The notification stated that private schools need to register their institutions, according to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Private Schools Regulatory Authority Act. The province currently has 11,887 registered private schools throughout its territory.
Officials said that the presence of unregistered schools makes it difficult to accurately estimate the number of out-of-school children. The law requires all schools to obtain proper registration before they can begin operation.
The Education Department has instructed authorities to completely enforce the registration policy according to its established guidelines.
