PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has launched a new Personalized Registration Mark (PRM) System, under which vehicle registration numbers will be linked to individuals rather than vehicles.
Under the new system, even after selling a vehicle, the original owner can retain the number, while the buyer must apply for a new one.
Citizens can also hold onto their numbers for up to three years without assigning them to a vehicle.
Chief Minister stated the initiative aims to make vehicle registration faster, transparent, and corruption-free, while also helping curb fake or cloned number plates.
The digital registration system will streamline administrative processes and reduce illegal use of vehicles, according to Excise Minister Sohail Afridi.
In addition to this reform, the Chief Minister announced a Shaheed Package for the Excise Department, mirroring police operations, to strengthen crackdowns against narcotics.
Afridi emphasized strict action against drug traffickers, including major players, aiming for a drug-free Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
