The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has implemented a new system of 4 days of classes and 3 holidays per week in all government educational institutions of the province.

According to a notification issued by the Department of Secondary and Elementary Education, this decision has come into effect immediately. Under the new education model, all government schools in the province will now have holidays on Fridays and Saturdays in addition to Sundays. According to the Education Department, this major change in working hours has been made in view of the continuous increase in fuel prices and shortage of supply to reduce travel expenses.

According to the notification issued, due to the reduction in the academic day, the daily working hours have been increased. Educational activities in primary schools will start from 7:30 am and continue till 1:35 pm.

Similarly, the new timings for middle schools have been fixed from 7:30 am to 2:35 pm. The dismissal time for high and higher secondary school students has been fixed at 3 pm.

It should be noted that the aim of this measure is to ensure energy conservation while maintaining educational continuity. The education department has directed all district officers to strictly implement the new schedule so that the educational curriculum can be completed on time.
