PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Higher Education Department has imposed a ban on male teachers meeting female students during office hours at public universities throughout the province.

The department issued an official letter that prohibits male faculty members from conducting private meetings with female students during office hours.

The letter directs universities to appoint at least one female faculty member in each department. The designated faculty member will be responsible for listening to female students’ concerns and complaints and helping resolve their issues.

The department has also instructed universities to organize seminars at least once every quarter. The seminars will educate students about the Protection Against Harassment Act while informing them about their rights and available support mechanisms.

Officials said the move intends to create safer environments that protect female students in higher education institutions throughout the province.
