PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced a new energy conservation rule that prohibits decorative light usage in wedding halls. The provincial government has issued essential electricity conservation guidelines that target urban areas.

District administrations must enforce the prohibition of decorative lights at wedding halls and public plazas and shopping centres according to these regulations. Officials stated that local authorities will work with wedding halls to establish operational guidelines that will stop energy waste during nighttime hours.

Commercial centres should maintain their lighting within reasonable limits while they must implement energy-saving measures throughout their busiest operating times.

The Local Government Department and district administrations will oversee the compliance process for these regulations. The provincial government declared that it designed these regulations to reduce energy waste while promoting electricity savings as a solution for the existing energy crisis.

KP govt reduces vehicle usage by 60% for two months

Similarly, the provincial government has decided to ground 60% of its official vehicles for two months. The administration has issued an official notification regarding this decision.

According to the details, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to reduce the usage of government vehicles by 60% due to possible pressures on petroleum supplies and foreign exchange reserves. This decision has been made to manage resources efficiently in light of regional developments. The restriction will be applicable for two months, as stated in the issued notification.

Principal accounting officers are directed to ensure strict compliance with this order. However, this restriction does not apply to police operational duties, law enforcement agencies, rescue and emergency services, and field enforcement units.

The implementation of his decision has been carried out under the supervision of the Chief Secretary, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and a copy of the notification has been dispatched to the IG Police, Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, and all government departments.

It is worth mentioning here that this decision has been taken in these difficult times for the proper use of resources.
