PESHAWAR: Among the 5,600 employees at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Civil Secretariat, only 666 have registered their attendance according to the rules set by the administration department. The rest have not yet enrolled in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s modern attendance management system.

This information was revealed in a letter from the Administrative Affairs Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The letter has been issued to the Additional Chief Secretary of Planning and Development, the Additional Chief Secretary of Home and Tribal Affairs, the Senior Member of the Board of Revenue, and all administrative secretaries.

The letter indicates that the process of registering employees in the modern attendance system, which uses face recognition, is progressing very slowly. So far, only 666 out of 5,600 employees have been registered. The Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has expressed serious concern about this situation and has instructed all departments of the Civil Secretariat to complete the registration of all employees by October 24.

According to the letter from the Administration Department, of the 666 registered employees, 229 are from the Establishment and Administration Department, while the remaining 437 belong to various other departments. The Chief Secretary has directed the secretaries of all departments to discuss the unusually slow registration process in their correspondence and has emphasised that all employees must be registered on the Attendance Management System by October 24. This system will directly monitor attendance and automatically record any absences or delays. It is important to note that the provincial government has made biometric attendance mandatory for all employees.
