PESHAWAR: The Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Arshad Ayub Khan, met on Friday in Peshawar with UNICEF’s Chief Field Officer for Peshawar, Radoslaw Rzehak, and education expert Syed Fawad Ali Shah.

The two-member delegation assured the provincial minister of UNICEF’s full cooperation in promoting the education sector. They said that, to make the new enrollment campaign successful, effective measures would be taken under a comprehensive strategy to encourage out-of-school children to return to education. For this purpose, data on out-of-school children would be collected across the province, along with their identification, so that no child remains deprived of education.

The delegation also assured cooperation from UNICEF in introducing education in artificial intelligence for school students, and expressed willingness to shift provincial schools to solarisation, as well as to provide better infrastructure, including repair of school buildings.

During the discussion, the provincial minister appreciated UNICEF’s support for educational activities and stated that the education sector is the top priority of the current government. He added that the government views with high regard all organisations contributing to the promotion and development of education in the province.
