PESHAWAR: Two Assistant Commissioners of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been suspended for failing to stop illegal mining activities in their respective districts.
An official announcement regarding these suspensions has been issued by the Establishment Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
As per the notification, Assistant Commissioner Jehangira Anis Rehman has been immediately suspended under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government servant’s efficiency and discipline rules 2011 on grounds of failure to check illicit mining activities in the area.
Likewise, yet another notification ordered the suspension of Additional Assistant Commissioner, Thari Kohat, Inam Mehmood, for failing to curb the illegal mining going on in his area.
These steps were taken in the name of enforcing law and order, and also to ensure greater accountability on the part of government officials.
KP health secretary suspends MS, three senior doctors, 28 staff
Earlier, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Secretary Shahidullah on Tuesday carried out a surprise raid on Swabi Hospital, leading to the suspension of the medical superintendent, three senior doctors and 28 employees found absent from duty.
According to officials, the health secretary inspected various wards and departments of the hospital and expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of medical staff and administrative lapses.
Following the inspection, the medical superintendent, three senior doctors and 28 employees were suspended for negligence and dereliction of duty. The secretary also ordered a formal inquiry into the absent staff to fix responsibility.
During the raid, there was a lot of anger over the poor cleanliness of the hospital, the presence of stray dogs, the shortage of emergency medicines and the absence of staff. The Health Secretary inspected the hospital for seven hours and seized records. He also directed an inquiry against all absent employees. The action was taken on the basis of public complaints and media reports.
Officials said strict action would be taken against those found guilty after completion of the inquiry, adding that the provincial government would not tolerate negligence in public healthcare facilities.
The health secretary stressed that ensuring the presence of medical staff and providing quality healthcare services to patients remained a top priority of the government.
