PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Finance Department has released over Rs 662.9 million to more than 100 Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMAs) across the province for the fourth quarter of the 2025-26 financial year.
The funds, covering the period from April to June, are primarily intended to cover ongoing operational expenses, including the payment of salaries and pensions.
According to data released by the Finance Department, Peshawar City TMA received the highest allocation, totalling more than Rs 87 million. Significant disbursements were also made to other major municipalities, with Mardan TMA receiving over Rs 38.8 million and Kohat TMA allocated more than Rs 25.9 million. Other districts, including Haripur, Charsadda, and Nowshera, also received substantial funding amounting to several crores of rupees.
The disbursement includes a special grant specifically earmarked for TMAs currently struggling with weak financial positions. While the funds have been released to ensure administrative continuity, the Finance Department maintained that all legal requirements would be strictly fulfilled during the process.
Furthermore, the provincial government has ordered a re-evaluation of the financial needs of TMAs through the Local Government Department. A Scrutiny Committee has been tasked with reviewing the financial situation of these local bodies before any additional funds are approved, ensuring greater fiscal discipline and transparency.
