PESHAWAR (Muhammad Ijaz Afridi): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has released a grant of over Rs 136 crore for the payment of salaries and pensions to employees of Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs) across the province. The Finance Department has issued a formal release order concerning this grant.
According to the release order, the funds have been allocated for the financial year 2025-26 under the TMAs Grant-II program. This initiative is designed to assist those Tehsil Municipal Bodies that struggle to pay salaries and pensions on time due to limited revenue.
The Finance Department reports that the funds will be distributed to 77 TMAs throughout the province, including Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Swabi, Charsadda, Karak, Kohat, Haripur, Mansehra, Battagram, Abbottabad, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, and various TMAs in South and North Waziristan. The amount allocated to each TMA has been determined based on its financial needs and liabilities.
This grant is intended to ensure the timely payment of salaries and pensions for employees until March 2026. To facilitate this, district and tehsil administrations have been instructed to complete all necessary legal and administrative requirements and ensure transparent use of the funds.
The Finance Department has clarified that these funds have been allocated through reappropriation within various sections of the current financial year and will be transferred to the public accounts of the respective TMAs via the District Accounts Officers. Furthermore, the Finance Department has emphasised that the funds are strictly designated for salary and pension payments and cannot be used for any other purposes.
