PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet has reinstated two senior police officers of senior superintendent rank who were terminated over various charges in the previous government.

According to the minutes, a copy of which is available with the Pakhtun Digital, at the 44th meeting of the provincial cabinet held on December 29 has approved the reinstatement of Captain (Retd) Sajid Mehmood and Major (Retd) Rahatullah SPs against supernumerary posts until their supernanuation, without creation of any pensionary liability, on the same terms and conditions as applicable to other ex-servicemen.

The cabinet has directed the provincial police officer, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to reinstate the aforesaid officers.

The Inspector General of Police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hamid has decided to promote 110 sub-inspectors to the post of Inspector based on the recommendations of the Departmental Selection Committee.

The announcement comes after long-pending promotion cases were reviewed and addressed. The formal notification for the promotions was issued today.

On the previous day, the Departmental Selection Committee conducted a meeting in which it was decided to promote various eligible officers from Sub-Inspector to Inspector level among others. A recommendation of IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s office for promotion of 110 Sub-Inspectors from various districts was then sent for approval. Once the required approval was obtained, the promotion announcement was made and it will take effect immediately.

IGP Zulfiqar Hamid expressed his congratulations to the promoted officers and stated that their promotions came as a result of their dedication, hard work, and professionalism. Moreover, he gave directions to the newly promoted officers to keep up their good work and to observe the highest professional standards while on duty. IGP Hamid also wished these officers to serve the public with integrity, discipline, and a service-like attitude throughout their tenure.
