PESHAWAR: The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has announced the recruitment of teachers who will be paid a monthly honorarium of Rs 25,000.
These recruitments will be only for four and a half months. The services of temporary teachers will be provided from January 16 to May 31. In mountainous areas, this period will be from March 1 to June 30.
Teachers in primary schools will be recruited through SDEO. In middle schools, the Deputy DEO will be responsible for recruitment, and in high and higher secondary schools, the DEO and principal will be responsible for the recruitment. Recruitment will be made according to the presence of at least four teachers in primary schools or the number of students.
According to the data, 5,845 teachers will be recruited in the settled districts, of which 2,910 seats have been allocated for boys’ schools and 2,935 seats for girls’ schools.
The number of teachers in the merged districts will be 4,229, of which 392 seats have been reserved for boys and 3,837 for girls. Thus, the total interim requirement of 10,074 teachers has been estimated.
According to the Education Department, this step has been taken to improve the teaching process in educational institutions and provide quality education to students, so that educational activities in the plains and hilly areas can continue without interruption.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has officially approved the recruitment of 10,000 contract school teachers to address the increasing shortage of teaching staff in government schools across the province.
According to official details, teachers will be recruited strictly through the talent pool and appointed via Parent-Teacher Councils (PTCs) following a prescribed mechanism.
In schools located in the summer zone, teachers will be hired for a duration of five months, from January 16 to May 31. In winter zone schools, appointments will be made for four months, from March 1 to June 30.
In settled districts, a total of 5,845 teachers will be recruited: 2,910 for boys’ schools and 2,935 for girls’ schools. Major districts involved include Abbottabad, Lakki Marwat, Mansehra, Upper Dir, Peshawar, and Swat, among others. The district-wise hiring plan is designed to ensure an equitable distribution of teachers based on local needs.
In the merged districts, 4,229 teachers will be hired. Boys’ schools will recruit teachers in Khyber, Kurram, Kohat, North Waziristan, and other areas, while girls’ schools will receive teachers in Khyber, Mohmand, North Waziristan, Orakzai, and South Waziristan subdivisions.
For girls’ schools in the merged districts, the hiring plan includes: 204 teachers in Bajaur, 597 in Khyber, 184 in Kurram, 339 in Mohmand, 780 in North Waziristan, 401 in Orakzai, 10 in Bhittani subdivision of Lakki Marwat, 35 in Darazinda subdivision of Dera Ismail Khan, 59 in Darra Adam Khel subdivision of Kohat, 129 in Hassan Khel subdivision of Peshawar, 225 in Jandola subdivision of Tank, 446 in Wazir subdivision of Bannu, 131 in South Waziristan Lower, and 297 in South Waziristan Upper.
The government has emphasised that this initiative is part of its ongoing commitment to strengthen education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), particularly in remote and previously underserved districts.
