PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched a mobile Application ‘PHE’ for registering citizens’ complaints related to water, paying bills and ensuring clean drinking water.
A review meeting of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The meeting focused on measures to improve water quality and ensure the provision of clean and safe drinking water to the people of the province.
During the meeting, it was reported that the target of increasing water sample testing by 15% had been successfully achieved. Additionally, a new mobile app for PHE was introduced. This app will allow citizens to register complaints, pay bills, and will be linked to the department’s Management Information System (MIS). It will also include features for HR management and the electronic assignment of tasks to employees.
The participants were briefed on the progress of the water quality campaign. In July 2025, a total of 298 water samples were tested, of which 220 were declared safe for consumption, while 78 were deemed unsuitable. In August 2025, 63 samples were retested, revealing that 40 were suitable and 23 were unsuitable. Following the identification of contamination sources, chlorination and other remedial measures were implemented. Meetings were also conducted at the Chief Engineer and Circle levels to ensure corrective actions were taken for the unsuitable samples.
