PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education, Arshad Ayub Khan, has taken strict notice of the closure of educational institutions in Dera Ismail Khan and the absence of staff.

He directed the concerned authorities to ensure staff attendance in educational institutions across the province, and to install a biometric attendance system through mobile apps in schools within one week.

He issued these instructions on Wednesday while presiding over a meeting in Peshawar regarding the situation of schools in Dera Ismail Khan.
The meeting was attended by Members of the Provincial Assembly from Dera Ismail Khan, Ahmed Karim Khan Kundi, Makhdoom Aftab Shah, Ehsanullah Khan, along with Special Secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education Masood, Chief Planning Officer Zainullah Khan, MD Elementary and Secondary Education Foundation Qaiser Alam, and other officials from the Education Department.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the closure of government schools, staff absenteeism, and security issues in Dera Ismail Khan.
On this occasion, the provincial minister gave a one-week deadline to ensure staff attendance in government schools of Dera Ismail Khan and directed that attendance of school staff across the province must be ensured through mobile apps. He said that, in line with the clear directives of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the school system in the province would be further strengthened and streamlined. He added that a short-term policy is being introduced that will also assist in postings and transfers within the Education Department.
He further stated that the present government will recruit 10,000 teachers on a contract basis across the province
