DIR UPPER: (NASIR ZADA) Another rising star from the remote village of Moha in Dir Bala district, fed up with lack of government patronage and unemployment, left the sports fields and leaving for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to work.
According to details, the young athlete from Moha village, who worked hard under his own support and won several medals and honors in national and local sports competitions, was finally forced by economic circumstances. The athlete says, “Sports were my passion and I wanted to bring glory to the country and nation, but an empty stomach dulls the shine of medals.”
Talking to the media before his departure, the young athlete said that he had drawn the attention of the relevant authorities and the sports department to his achievements many times, but unfortunately, he was neither encouraged nor provided any financial support at the government level. He said:
“There is no shortage of talent in Pakistan, but due to lack of government patronage, many players like us are forced to sacrifice their dreams and work abroad.”
Local people and sports fans have expressed deep sorrow over the departure of the young player. They say that there is immense sports talent in Dir-e-Bala, but the future of the youth is bleak due to the lack of facilities and grounds.
They have demanded the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and the Director General of Sports to create employment opportunities for players so that the country’s capital can make a name for itself here instead of moving abroad.
