PESHAWAR: The Primary Health Care Reforms Project of the Health Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Greenstar Social Marketing Pakistan have signed an important agreement aimed at improving basic healthcare facilities across the province.
The agreement has been signed under a strategic public–private partnership, with the objective of strengthening Basic Health Units (BHUs) throughout the province, addressing shortages of human resources, and improving the quality of healthcare services. Through this collaboration, the public will be provided with better and more effective access to quality medical services.
Under the agreement, Greenstar Social Marketing Pakistan will cooperate with the Health Department in deploying trained medical staff at selected health facilities identified by the Primary Health Care Reforms Project and in making service delivery more effective.
The signing ceremony was held at the Health Secretariat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the agreement was signed by Dr Syed Aziz-ur-Rehman, Chief Executive Officer of Greenstar Social Marketing Pakistan, and Dr Ikramullah Khan, Project Director of the Primary Health Care Reforms Project.
On the occasion, Provincial Health Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr Khaliq Ur Rehman, and Secretary Health Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr Shahidullah Khan, were also present. Senior management of Greenstar Social Marketing Pakistan and senior officials of the Health Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, attended the ceremony.
At the conclusion of the event, the Provincial Health Minister termed the agreement an important step towards improving primary healthcare services in the province and strengthening the health system, while reiterating the commitment to providing quality healthcare facilities to the people.
