PESHAWAR: Following the expiration of the local governments’ term in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the local government system has been systematically dissolved throughout the province.
Officials have stated that instructions have been issued for representatives from all districts, tehsils, and union councils, including Metropolitan Peshawar, to return their official vehicles.
Additionally, assistant representatives have also been instructed to return their vehicles. An audit of local government funds will be conducted as part of this process.
Sources indicate that the powers of local governments have been temporarily transferred to deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners. Due to the security situation, there may be delays in the upcoming local government elections in the province.
