PESHAWAR: Spokesperson to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Faraz Mughal, criticised the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) leader and Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s brother, Zia-ur-Rehman, for duplicating old and abandoned political tactics.

Speaking in a statement issued on Tuesday, Faraz Mughal said that Zia-ur-Rehman is replicating the same tired politics that was begun in 1997 in the name of Musarrat Shaheen, referring to the actress-turned-politician who had previously run against Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

The Maulana family is now relying on political ‘Musarrat Shaheens’ to resuscitate their ailing politics,” Mughal said, denouncing what he termed theatrics and showmanship in recent public gatherings by the JUI-F leadership.

Mughal further added that Zia-ur-Rehman initially had to assess his own political weight in his native constituency of Dera Ismail Khan. “The people of Dera Ismail Khan have already boycotted the Maulana dynasty. They are now seeking solace in stage shows during rallies,” he said.

Anybody who cannot mobilize public opinion in his own area has no credibility to speak on provincial matters, the spokesman commented. Politics is work and service today, and not speeches alone, he further added.

Faraz Mughal also claimed that the political stature of Maulana Fazlur Rehman has declined to merely giving speeches and making comments. Maulana family’s fall cannot be masked by talk shows, he said.

Referring to the KP government’s success, Mughal said Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has demonstrated real public service in Dera Ismail Khan and throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He concluded that the provincial government stands on the foundation of people’s votes, not the noise of a failed political dynasty.
