Khyber Pakhtunkhwa health department has decided to introduce a smart attendance app across the province to take action against ghost and absent employees, under which employees will now have to upload their photos and take attendance online.
According to health department sources, the smart attendance app is being implemented across the province with the aim of developing the attendance system on modern lines and preventing misuse of government resources. Under the new system, employees will upload photos with their location from offices, hospitals and health centers, which will make it possible to verify their presence.
Sources said that earlier attendance was taken through biometric machines and registers in the health department, but despite this, complaints of ghost employees and absence from duty have been coming to light in different districts.
According to health department sources, data of health department employees across the province is being compiled, after which the smart attendance system will be implemented formally.
According to sources, under this system, it will be possible to identify employees who show attendance despite being on leave, those who are absent for long periods and those who are continuously neglecting their duties, which will help in improving departmental discipline and providing better health facilities to the public.
