The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government approved important decision in 48th meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.
Briefing media persons KP information Minister Shafi Jan said that the cabinet approved more than 4 billion 60 million funds to meet the shortage of staff in health facilities and hospitals, Shafi Jan 2439 doctors, dental surgeons and nurses will be recruited on fixed pay from the funds.
Shafi Jan said that under this decision, doctors, dental surgeons and nurses will be recruited across the province including the merged districts through walk-in interviews. He added that provincial cabinet approved the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Vagrancy (Control and Rehabilitation) Bill 2025.
The bill aims to eliminate forced and professional begging, protect and rehabilitate children, and special rehabilitation fund will also be established under this bill, Shafi Jan informed. The Cabinet approved the Wheat Procurement and Strategic Reserves Hybrid Policy 2026, Shafi Jan Under this policy, the wheat procurement system will be gradually shifted to a market-based model. The Cabinet approved the adjustment of more than Rs 38 billion dues related to wheat procurement from the federal government and the payment of the remaining amount to PASSCO.
Shafi Jan said that the Cabinet approved a grant-in-aid of Rs 196 million for providing laptops to minority students under the Chief Minister’s Digital Inclusion Program. He added that Cabinet approved amendments to the Protection of Women from Harassment at Workplace Act, 2010.
The Cabinet also approved the establishment of breast screening centres in five divisional headquarters, Transfer of 15 kanals of land to the Health Department for the establishment of a nursing college in Upper Chitral was also approved. Beside this Cabinet approves increase in cost of Women and Children Hospital project in Lakki Marwat. Shafi Jan said that Provincial cabinet approves provision of land for Ladies and Children Park on Kohat Road in Peshawar.
Cabinet approves cost of land purchase for Peshawar to DI Khan Motorway. Approval also given for transfer of 29 kanal 9 marla government land for expansion of judicial complex in Hangu district, Shafi Jan Financial assistance package for 6505 affected families on the pattern of Tirah model in Khyber district. He added that cabinet also approves nomination of private sector representative for Private Power and Infrastructure Board, Shafi Jan said.
