PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has contacted several international chopper manufacturing companies to purchase two new helicopters.

According to the sources, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government authorities have approached at least ten international helicopter manufacturing companies for information regarding their helicopter models, technical specifications, and design drawings.

The KP government sources indicated that the process of acquiring modern helicopters has been expedited to enhance the capacity for rescue operations across the province.

These ten renowned companies have been approached directly, and the government is requesting details about their latest helicopter offerings. The purchase will be carried out through a transparent international tendering process, ensuring fairness.

Following a recent helicopter crash incident in the Mohmand district, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government decided to acquire more helicopters. The Chief Secretary confirmed this decision, and the Health Advisor mentioned in a conversation with Pakhtun Digital that the government plans to purchase not just one, but two helicopters. These helicopters will be designated for use in rescue and relief operations during natural disasters.

In addition, the government has decided to conduct an impartial investigation into the recent helicopter crash. According to sources, experts from the foreign company that manufactured the helicopter would arrive in Pakistan next month to examine the crash site and collect a ground report. They will also conduct a detailed analysis of the helicopter’s black box.

It is pertinent to mention that on August 15, a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government helicopter was en route to participate in rescue efforts following a cloudburst in Bajaur district when it crashed in the Pindiali area of Mohmand, resulting in the loss of five lives, including two pilots.
