PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has amended the rules concerning the recruitment of families of martyrs for government jobs. In this regard, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Establishment Department has issued a formal notification indicating that the appointment of widows or children of martyrs will now follow the new rules.
This amendment has been incorporated into the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Civil Servants Rules of 1989.
According to the notification, if a government employee is killed in a terrorist act while on duty, the son or widow of the deceased employee will be granted a government job. Under the new amendment, children or widows of a martyr can be appointed to basic positions ranging from Grade 1 to Grade 11. However, for positions in Grade 12 and above, a minimum educational qualification is required.
The amendment also specifies that if more than one child or widow of a martyr is eligible for employment, the widow will receive priority. If there is no suitable position or grade available at the time of hiring, the eligible candidate can be appointed to a lower grade. In such cases, if a higher-grade position becomes vacant later, they can be promoted.
Furthermore, the notification states that if the preferred candidate does not meet the required qualifications, they will not be appointed to the position. It is important to note that this facility applies only to posts that are outside the purview of the Public Service Commission, meaning it does not cover recruitments made through the commission.
