PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi orders immediate release of Rs 3 billion for Sehat Card Program, says Muzzammil Aslam, advisor to Chief Minister.

Advisor to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muzzammil Aslam, while issuing an important statement regarding the release notification of Sehat Card funds, said that the Chief Minister received a briefing on the Sehat Card Plus program and, on the occasion, issued orders for the immediate release of Rs. 3 billion for the Sehat Card.

Muzzammil Aslam stated that, ensuring immediate implementation of the Chief Minister’s directives, the Finance Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued the fund release notification.

The Advisor said that the Health Department is the top priority of the Chairman Imran Khan-led government’s vision, and that former Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, immediately after taking oath, restored the Sehat Card Plus facility for the public.

Muzzammil Aslam said that during the current year, the Finance Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has allocated Rs. 41 billion for the Sehat Card, while compared to Rs. 36 billion in the previous year. So far, in the first four months, the Treasury has already released Rs. 9.65 billion.

Muzzammil Aslam further said that Chairman Imran Khan’s vision of “Treatment for all and free” will continue.

The Advisor said that the news circulating on social media regarding the suspension of the Sehat Card is baseless. Payments to hospitals under the Sehat Card in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are continuing as usual.

Muzzammil Aslam added that all government and private hospitals are providing services under the Sehat Card program.

It is worth mentioning that the Khyber Teaching Hospital has issued a statement confirming that the temporarily suspended Sehat Sahulat Card services have now been fully restored. All admitted patients are being provided free treatment facilities under the Sehat Sahulat Card.

Muzzammil Aslam, in a tweet, said that from March 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, the Finance Department provided Rs. 40 billion for the Sehat Card. From July to October 2025, an additional Rs. 9.65 billion were given, bringing the total spending from March 2024 till now to approximately Rs. 50 billion.

Muzzammil Aslam stated that, in terms of expenditure on the health sector, no province can match Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The health budget of the province constitutes 15% of the province’s total expenditures. Furthermore, he said, We are determined to make further investments in the health sector.
