PESHAWAR: Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahab Ali Shah, has directed district administrations to ensure that no open manholes remain in the province.
In a statement issued on the social media platform X, the Chief Secretary ordered the district administration to make sure every manhole in the province is covered.
He emphasized that strict adherence to these orders is mandatory, and any negligence would not be tolerated.
The directive comes in response to public safety concerns and is aimed at preventing potential accidents. KP administration ordered the covering manhole after the incident of Ibrahim in Karachi.
The provincial administration has instructed all Deputy Commissioners to immediately identify and close any open manholes in their respective districts to safeguard public welfare.

The showbiz industry has expressed deep grief and anger over the death of three-year-old Ibrahim, who fell into a manhole near Nipa Chowrangi.
Karachi is the largest city in Pakistan, where residents continue to suffer accidents every day due to administrative negligence and carelessness. The accident occurred at around 11 pm on Sunday. Ibrahim had gone shopping with his parents and suddenly fell into an open manhole in front of his father.
