PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has approved 96 development projects worth more than 10 billion for various districts of the province.
The approval came during the sixth meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP), chaired by Additional Chief Secretary for the Planning and Development Department, Ikramullah Khan. The meeting was attended by PDWP members and officers from relevant departments.
According to officials, the projects have been approved on the special instructions of the Chief Minister as part of the Good Governance Roadmap. The government reiterated its commitment to ensuring uniform development across the province. Feasibility studies for several development schemes were also approved, and regular work will begin once the feasibility process is completed.
A major portion of the approved projects focuses on enhancing road connectivity and promoting economic activity in the province. Improved access to remote areas is expected to open new avenues for trade and industry.
The approved projects include the feasibility, design, and construction of Shahpur Tui Bridge, Indus Highway to Bannu Gate Chowki Road (7.5 km), Charsadda Road Faqirabad Underpass, and widening of Peshawar Warsak Road to Saint Mary’s Ring Road. Other key projects involve the dualization of Swabi-Topi Road (19 km), Katlang Bypass Road, and road from Jalala to Charsadda Interchange (14 km).
Additionally, feasibility studies were approved for Sherwan Road, rehabilitation of Tanov Road (Haripur to Bir), Mayar to Shahi Bin Shahi Road (7 km), Ropar-Lora-Ghoragali Road (26.7 km), and Chakdara to Parrai Road (15 km) in District Swat. The meeting also approved the Munda Bypass Road (5 km), Jabbar Bridge on Nizampur-Kohat Road, and Rustam Bypass Road (District Mardan).
Projects for improved connectivity include the construction of a road and tunnel connecting Haripur to Islamabad, Swat Expressway Phase II (Chakdara to Fatehpur, 80 km) under a PPP model, and feasibility for the Dir Motorway (50 km).
Further approvals cover multiple link roads, bypasses, suspension bridges, and flood-damaged bridge rehabilitation across Malakand, Dir, Swat, Buner, Haripur, Mardan, Charsadda, Swabi, and merged districts.
These initiatives aim to improve infrastructure, strengthen provincial connectivity, and promote balanced socio-economic development across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
