PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Authority uncovers a national-level cell for manufacturing artificial milk during an operation in Hattar Industrial Zone.
The factory was sealed for its involvement in manufacturing millions of liters of artificial and unhealthy milk, and three accused were arrested. Under the direct supervision of Director General Food Authority Wasif Saeed, Director Operations Yousuf, and Director Technical Dr. Abdul Sattar Shah, along with a special food safety team, conducted an operation in Hattar Industrial Zone of Haripur district late last night and arrested a group from Bahawalnagar inside the factory Hattar.
Briefing the media about the operation, DG Wasif Saeed said that after the operations of the Punjab Food Authority, this notorious group had shifted to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which was caught by the KP Food Authority promptly. The Director General said that on the basis of intelligence-based information, the Punjab Food Authority in Punjab and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Authority in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa caught this nefarious business.
Giving details of the operation, Wasif Saeed said that during the raid, a large number of chemicals, raw materials, and heavy machinery used in the production of artificial milk were recovered from the factory. Tankers filled with unsafe milk were also seized from the spot. Which were destroyed. The Director General further said that the factory was being run illegally, and artificial and unsafe milk was being supplied to various major cities, including Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
DG Wasif Saeed said that the network was allegedly supplying about one lakh liters of artificial milk to the market daily, which is extremely dangerous for human health. During the operation, the factory was sealed, and three people, including the manager, were arrested, while all the machinery was taken into government custody. An FIR has been registered against the accused, and legal action has been initiated. The Director General said that the district administration of the Haripur Food Authority has been fined for negligence in this matter.
