PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority sealed a factory in Nowshera on Wednesday for allegedly producing synthetic and adulterated milk on a large scale.

According to an official statement, the authority’s team conducted a raid following a tip-off and recovered 350 litres of fake milk from the factory located in the Industrial Estate of Risalpur. The contaminated milk was destroyed on-site.

A spokesperson for the authority stated that the operation was conducted by the Nowshera team under the supervision of Deputy Director Sher Rehman from the Peshawar Division, accompanied by the Town-2 Peshawar Food Safety Team. Samples tested on-site using the Mobile Food Testing Laboratory confirmed the milk to be artificial and harmful.

Officials seized the factory’s machinery, chillers, chemical drums, and a vehicle used for transporting chemicals. The premises were sealed, heavy penalties were imposed, and a first information report (FIR) was lodged against the factory owners.

Director General of the KP Food Authority, Wasif Saeed, praised the team’s successful operation, calling the production of fake and adulterated milk a “heinous crime” against public health. He directed inspection teams across the province to intensify their crackdowns on such illegal activities.
