PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Finance Adviser Muzzammil Aslam has severely criticised the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for not growing Punjab’s tourism industry during its several stints in government.
In a media release made through Assistant Director Anwar Khan Khattak, Muzzammil Aslam compared Punjab’s performance with KP’s increasing image as a tourist destination.
“In five years of rule, PML-N was not able to provide even one new tourist attraction to the 130 million people of Punjab,” Aslam said. “Punjab has only Murree and even that was constructed by the British.”
He asserted that KP, however, is blessed with more than one scenic location and is actually developing four new tourist attractions. Among the most awaited are Thandiani and Ghanol (Swat), which are going to be opened for development very shortly.
Aslam also highlighted KP’s natural assets, especially its forests, and referred to them as the second-best tourism asset in the country. He noted that KP has 27% of its area covered with trees, whereas Punjab’s is not even 4%.
He also announced that during Ali Amin Gandapur’s administration, KP is constructing Pakistan’s largest wildlife park, highlighting the province’s efforts towards eco-tourism and conservation.
The Punjab Chief Minister is also busy searching for WiFi devices and mobile chargers, while Punjabis find only authentic recreational and family-friendly prospects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Aslam said.
