PESHAWAR: In a significant step towards strengthening transparency and public-oriented service delivery, the Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, organised a dignified ceremony for the formal handover of (choice) vehicle number plates to their successful bidders.

In this regard, a ceremony was held on Friday at the Directorate General of Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, at Hayatabad in Peshawar.

The ceremony was attended by Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Syed Fakhar Jehan as the chief guest. Director General of Excise Abdul Haleem Khan, senior officers of the department and owners of the number plates were also present on the occasion.

During the ceremony, the owners of the registration plates “Peshawar-1”, “Haripur-1” and “Durrani-1” received their plates formally from the provincial minister.

In addition, the choice plates “Wazir-1” and “Yousafzai-1” were also formally handed over to the authorised representatives of the respective owners.

Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister Syed Fakhar Jehan said that the record-breaking auction of choice number plates clearly reflects the growing public trust in the transparent, modern and citizen-friendly system of the Excise Department.

He stated that through the auction of these registration plates, citizens are being provided with a legal, secure and reliable facility to obtain number plates of their choice.

This initiative, he added, has not only enhanced public facilitation but has also further strengthened public confidence in the department’s performance.

The provincial minister said that, as a result of ongoing reform initiatives in the Excise Department, the service delivery system is being made more efficient, faster and transparent, which is why citizens are actively participating in such auctions.

He announced that the second phase of the choice number plates auction will also be conducted successfully, Insha’Allah.

Reaffirming his commitment, he said that the trust of citizens is reinforcing the department’s transparent system and that the process of public facilitation will continue in the future through improved administrative strategies.

He further said that, in line with the vision of Imran Khan and under the leadership of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi, efforts would be made to further strengthen and modernise the Excise sector.

The owners of the choice number plates, who attended the ceremony, appreciated the reform measures and initiatives of the Chief Minister and Provincial Minister Syed Fakhar Jehan.

They stated that the transparent auction mechanism, along with the courteous and professional conduct of the Excise Department staff, has significantly enhanced public confidence. The participants also paid tribute to the Excise Department team for the transparent conduct of the auction, effective arrangements and the provision of a citizen-friendly environment.
