ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Friday issued a stern warning to the federal government, holding the “ruling clique” and its handlers responsible for any harm that might befall PTI Chairman Imran Khan due to a lack of medical attention.

Addressing a high-stakes press conference at Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad, the Chief Minister stated that the provincial government has exhausted all constitutional, legal, and democratic avenues to ensure the former prime minister receives treatment at Shifa International Hospital. He demanded that such care must be administered in the presence of Khan’s family and under the direct supervision of his personal physicians.

“Imran Khan is no ordinary citizen; he is a former Prime Minister and the life chairman of the country’s largest political party,” CM Afridi stated, drawing parallels between Khan and other iconic leaders of the Islamic world who faced martyrdom or imprisonment.

The Chief Minister criticised the federal government’s priorities, alleging that the current administration lacks both a coherent foreign and internal policy. He claimed the state is being pushed toward “continuous destruction” because the ruling authorities are more focused on isolating Khan from his family and denying him healthcare than on national or economic development.

CM Afridi further alleged that various tactics are being employed to disqualify the leadership elected by popular vote, including himself and other senior PTI leaders. He warned that such an undemocratic attitude would stifle any hopes of national progress.

“The responsibility for any untoward incident regarding Imran Khan’s health will lie squarely with this fake government,” he concluded.
