After obtaining permission from the Islamabad High Court to meet the founder, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi reached Adiala Jail to meet him. However, the police stopped him at the Dahgal checkpoint. According to sources, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi headed to Adiala Jail after obtaining permission from the Islamabad High Court to meet the founder, but police stopped him from going further at the Dahgal checkpoint. On the police action, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi staged a sit-in along with other party workers and started protesting. He said that he has a court permit and it is his legal right to meet his leader.
Meanwhile, a heavy contingent of police has been deployed at the spot, while the situation is said to be tense but under control. It is to mentioning here that earlier to this, the Islamabad High Court had issued notices to the Federal Interior Secretary, Punjab Interior Secretary, Inspector General (IG) Police, and Superintendent Adiala Jail on October 23 on the request of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to meet Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in jail.
It may be recalled that the petition submitted by Sohail Afridi had taken the position that consultation with Imran Khan was ‘legally and morally necessary’ for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister to seek the party chief’s guidance on administrative and political decisions, including the formation of the cabinet.
