PESHAWAR: After assuming office, the new Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, has directed the Chief Secretary to prepare a list of such officers who are not cooperating with the provincial government, contrary to the government policy.

The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa gave this instruction in his first meeting with the Chief Secretary and administrative officers. He made it clear that this time, a real change will be brought in the province, administrative officers will have to work according to government policies, and action will be taken against anyone who obstructs this.

Sohail Afridi told government officers that there is no room for corruption and recommendation in his government, and action will be taken against those who do not cooperate with the government. He said that the Chief Secretary has been directed to keep a check and balance on all administrative officers and prepare a list of such officers who are not cooperating or obstructing the implementation of government policies.

A senior officer posted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said on condition of anonymity that PTI has been unhappy with the civil bureaucracy since the general elections. According to him, PTI candidates say that administrative officers played a role in allegedly making the opposition candidates successful in the elections.

He further said that if you look at it, PTI wants to keep the bureaucracy under pressure from the very beginning, believing in revenge. The officer said that after Ali Amin Gandapur became the Chief Minister, action was announced against the officers of the caretaker period, and the expulsion of the province, and some officers were also transferred. ‘The job of officers is to implement government policies, but political interference affects their work. There is no personal fault of the officers in this. The current government wants to keep the bureaucracy under pressure.’

He said that some time ago, PTI workers raised an uproar over the appointment of a senior police officer who came from Islamabad and took the position that he was the one who ordered the action during the Islamabad march. After this, his DPO appointment was withdrawn, but after some time, he was reappointed as DPO, according to the senior officer; such acts of retaliation are affecting the performance of the officers.
