PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur issued directives to release Rs358 million funds for TMAs and the salaries and pensions of local government employees, spokesperson for the Chief Minister’s House said.

The funds released by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will be allocated only for the payment of salaries and pensions. Initially, the funds will be distributed among 32 TMAs of the province, the arrears of employees will be cleared, and their salaries will be timely disbursed, a spokesperson for the Chief Minister said.

He informed that TMA Bannu has been provided with Rs336 million, DI Khan with Rs524 million, and Nowshera with Rs249 million. TMA Mardan will also be provided with Rs200 million, while other TMEs will also be provided with funds to pay their outstanding dues.

He said that the funds will be transferred to the accounts after fulfilling all legal requirements so that timely payment can be made. It is worth mentioning here that the Local government department has suffered badly in the last three years, as no funds were released for the development of the local communities.

The lack of funds causes multifarious problems at the village council level, which include street pavement, drainage system, water, sanitation, and pollution issues. After the release of this fund, the issue will not be resolved, as the Chief Minister hinted that these funds will only be used for salaries and pensions of the employees, while the local government representatives will not receive developmental funds to start work in their jurisdictions.
