PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi held a consultative meeting with opposition members of the provincial assembly regarding the NFC award, which aimed to present a strong case of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the rights of the province.
The meeting was attended by members of the assembly of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The Chief Minister apprised the opposition members of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s position regarding the NFC award and shed light in detail on the government’s plans and strategy to protect the province’s financial rights.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister made it clear that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should get its full share of its constitutional and financial rights so that the province can move on the path of development. He said that increasing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s share in the NFC award from the federal government is very important for the economic stability of the province.
The opposition members appreciated this effort of the Chief Minister and assured him of full cooperation in achieving the rights of the province. They said that unity is needed on this issue in the interest of the development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and the people and they are ready to cooperate on this issue at all levels.
In the meeting, they stressed on formulating a joint strategy by both sides so that effective discussions can be held at the federal level to achieve the constitutional rights and financial share of the province. The Chief Minister also stressed that cooperation and adopting a common position between the opposition and the government are necessary to put pressure on the federal government.
During the meeting, it was discussed in detail how more effective steps can be taken in the future regarding the NFC award at the government level and with the cooperation of the opposition. The Chief Minister said that further consultations will be held in this regard in the coming days and all political parties will be included in it so that a strong and united voice can be raised for the rights of the province.
The opposition representatives fully supported the Chief Minister’s hard work and efforts made for the rights of the province. They said that protecting the rights of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is their top priority, and they stand with the government for this purpose.
This meeting can prove to be a positive step as it is expected to create a new consensus among all political parties to achieve the rights of the province. This will pave the way for political stability and development in the province, and the case of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s rights can be presented more strongly before the federal government.
After this meeting, an atmosphere of trust has been created between the Chief Minister and the opposition members and it is hoped that a positive and common strategy will be adopted on the issue of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s constitutional and financial rights, as a result of which the province can move on the path of development.
