PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa(KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi ordered relevant quarters to ensure the provision of basic facilities at bus stands across the province.

The Department of Transport and Mass Transit, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has issued a formal notification in this regard. Instructions have been issued to carry out mandatory inspection of all bus stands and stands across the province, while the concerned authorities have been obliged to submit a photo report containing the first and second visits within two weeks.

After the completion of the stipulated period, the Transport Department itself will also inspect the bus stands to review the implementation. Serious notice has been taken of the non-availability of basic facilities at various bus stands in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Provision of waiting rooms, toilets, and necessary facilities for passengers has been made mandatory under the Motor Vehicle Rules 1969.

Describing the lack of facilities, especially for women and special needs, as a serious problem, immediate reforms have been directed. In this regard, strict instructions have been issued to all regional and provincial transport authorities to ensure immediate and effective implementation of the orders.
