The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi took several important decisions after detailed deliberation on the 28-point agenda meeting including measures related to public welfare, education, health, sports and financial matters.

The 50th meeting of the provincial cabinet was sheld under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi. The meeting was held entirely through video link as per the austerity policy of the provincial government, in which besides the members of the provincial cabinet, the Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretaries and concerned Administrative Secretaries also participated.

Important decisions and measures taken by the cabinet include approval of establishment of University of Applied and Modern Sciences for the merged districts, for which a committee will be formed under the chairmanship of the Provincial Minister for Local Government. Beside this approval was given to eliminate 55 vacant posts of support staff in the Agricultural University, which will save the provincial government Rs. 9 million per month.

The cabinet gave approval of posting transfer guidelines in the higher education sector, which will help in meeting the shortage of teaching and administrative staff in colleges in remote areas.

The cabinet also approved conditional grant-in-aid of Rs. 229 million for the Auqaf Department. The cabinet also approved voluntary deduction of two days’ basic salaries of government officers in grade 20 and above. Overall, 60% cut in POL of government vehicles as part of the provincial government’s austerity drive.

The cabinet also gave approval to grant MTI status to Saidu Group of Teaching Hospital and grant of Rs. 10 million to Fatmeed Foundation for treatment of underprivileged children suffering from thalassemia.

Beside this the cabinet gave approval of grant of Rs. 993 million to make Timergara Medical College functional. The cabinet also gave approval for purchase of land for establishment of Tehsil Sports Complex in Parwa DI Khan.

Financial assistance was also approved for wheelchair cricket players participating in Pak-Afghan Series 2025 and Asia Cup 24-2023. Beside approval was also given for Centre of Excellence status for 70 government schools, and scholarships for 1650 students.

The government also gave approval to release Rs 785 million to the Relief Department to deal with any untoward situation during the monsoon season. They also approved financial assistance for the treatment of 27 deserving patients suffering from complex diseases.

The Chief Minister said during the meeting that the provincial government is giving top priority to austerity and public welfare, and every decision is being taken for the promotion of public interest, education, health, sports and social services.
